Edmund T. Funk

Ed retired in December 1999 after 37 years in the Graphics Arts Industry, 33 of which were spent with Sun Chemical Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of printing inks and pigments. His career there included positions of V.P. of Research and Development and V. P. of Sales and Marketing. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Wagner College, Staten Island, NY; and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Chemistry respectively.

Ed spent most of his adult life in New Jersey (Jersey City and Ramsey) prior to 13 years in Naperville, IL, a western suburb of Chicago. In February of 2000, Ed and his wife, Kathryn, moved to the Lowcountry and now reside in Bluffton, South Carolina after 2 years on Callawassie Island. They have four grown sons, who live with their families in Ft. Collins, CO, Richmond, Va , Bethesda , MD and Morristown, NJ.

Ed has always enjoyed photography and since his retirement has been blessed with the opportunity to spend time shooting pictures of wildlife and nature scenes, his true love. In 2002, Ed and Kathryn created Vista Enterprises, a small photographic services company. His work has been recognized via feature articles in The Beaufort Gazette, Carolina Morning News, The Island Packet, Lowcountry Weekly, The Bluffton Breeze, South Carolina Homes and Gardens, Coastal Antiques and Art and Hilton Head Monthly.

He is a free-lance photographer for Carolina Fairways Magazine, Down South Publications, Sea Pines Real Estate/Marketing, Charter 1 Realty and Sandlapper Magazine, and was the featured artist at The Beaufort Art Association Gallery in August 2003, Pluff Mudd Gallery in Bluffton, SC in April 2004 and the Hilton Head Art League Gallery in August 2004. Ed was selected to be Artist in Residence by U.S.C. Beaufort for a number of their Artist Retreats on Pritchards Island, SC and he currently teaches photography for their TLX program. Ed is a member of the Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce, Beaufort Art Association, Hilton Head Art League, The Society of Bluffton Artists, Hilton Head Island Camera Club (Past President) and Lowcountry Civil War Roundtable.

My Vision:

If you are fortunate enough to live or travel to the places that nature rules, you've surely encountered its limitless beauty. Maybe you have come upon a scene that was so spectacular that you had to stop in your tracks, speechless and awed by what you saw. I have been lucky enough to find many of these vistas, and with camera in hand, have captured some of that beauty. As a caretaker of these images, I humbly offer some of my best photos of the breathtaking scenes that surround us all. My wish is that you might enjoy one of nature's finest views every day on your living room or office wall, and let it inspire and refresh you anew each time you view it.
